Jimothy Dyck and the Midnight Freight Train is coming soon to a television screen near you.

Steinbach, Manitoba Canada – Independent writer Alan Wiebe announced the upcoming release of his new film Jimothy Dyck and the Midnight Freight Train to be released on October 1, 2026.

Jimothy Dyck and the Midnight Freight Train is a four-part comedic fiction series, starring Jimothy Dyck – a somewhat misguided dreamer who’s heading west to make it big. His plan – hop a freight train out of town!

“Jimothy Dyck’s train hopping adventures are inspired by my experiences in Winnipeg,” said Alan Wiebe. “This movie’s got the vibes of a Jac Kerouac story with vivid portrayals of Winnipeg’s streetscapes and offbeat characters that are sure to make you smile.”

Jimothy Dyck and the Midnight Freight Train is a cinematic narration, featuring character performances, sound design, and music to produce an immersive auditory experience. The film’s silent visuals function to enhance the standalone audio as a visually striking artwork. The project will be released both as an audiobook and in video format.

The film Jimothy Dyck and the Midnight Freight Train is based on the short story by Wiebe, available free at www.alanwiebe.com.

“I publish short episodes of comedic fiction on my website,” said Wiebe. “You can read them on your coffee break, or while you’re sitting in a waiting room. Check it out!”

Jimothy Dyck and the Midnight Freight Train will have a runtime of about 30 minutes, with production scheduled to start in June 2026.  The film will be produced in Steinbach and Winnipeg. Jimothy Dyck and the Midnight Freight Train will be available on the release date via viewing links and as a downloadable MP4 file.
